Trattoria Vecchia Roma

Established in 1916, folk used to visit the ‘wine and oil’ cellar to pass the afternoon playing cards. The establishment was taken over in 1938 by the Colangeli family, who have passed on their traditional Roman through the generations to this day.

Flavio Velavevodetto

A much more modern approach, as Flavio Velavevodetto opened their first restaurant in 2009 in Testaccio, and a second in Piazza dei Quiriti in 2012. The proprietor, Flavio De Maio, is a typical born and bred Roman and spent years working in restaurants, and studying the culinary arts.

Checco er Carettiere

Created in 1935, the owners, Francesco and Diomira Porcelli, took over a tavern. Francesco was a wine merchant who had great knowledge of local wines, combined with his wife’s excellent cooking skills, and decided to offer the best of both worlds and open their trattoria. Pass this recipe for success down the generations, and today you will find the same genuine quality at their trattoria in the Trastevere district, offering local food and drinks.

Trattoria Da Bucatino

Established in 1979, Da Bucatino serves traditional Roman cuisine in the heart of the Testaccio district. This is a great location for sampling local foods and traditional Roman flavours amongst the Roman people.

Luciano

Established by Luciano Monosilio, this is a modern restaurant opened in 2018. Located in Campo de’ Fiori, this restaurant encompasses traditional Roman food with expertise that Luciano has taken to the table. His knowledge of the culinary arts comes from studying at Pellegrino Artusi Catering College and then working in two-year experience abroad, at Capetown, South Africa, and he is the youngest ever Italian to be awarded the Michelin-star.
